Quicksand share new single “Inversion”

April 13, 2021

New York City post-hardcore band Quicksand have made their long-awaited return with the new single “Inversion.” The track follows the band’s successful album from 2017, ‘Interiors.’ Thoughtful, driving, and powerful, like the long-lived band itself, the song has an emotional resonance that is only amplified by the events of the past stressed-out, locked-down year. “The music to ‘Inversion’ was very squatter punk at first,” says frontman Walter Schreifels. “To get something going vocally I started singing in an English Niel Nausea kind of vibe (Nausea are a peace/squatter punk band form the Lower East Side of Manhattan). The lyrics reflect the push and pull of being very connected through technology while at the same time being the most emotionally isolated group of humans to ever walk the planet and fun stuff like that.”  Today, the band has launched a colorful video with artwork by Japanese artist Tetsunori Tawaraya animated by Los Angeles-based artist Rob Fidel. Check it out! Formed in 1990, Quicksand made their full-length debut with Slip—a 1993 release praised by The A.V. Club [Read More]

HOLDING ABSENCE RELEASE VIDEO FOR FOURTH AND FINAL SINGLE ‘NOMOREROSES’

April 12, 2021

#Holding Absence have revealed a video for their thunderous fourth single “Nomoreroses” ahead of “The Greatest Mistake Of My Life” out this Friday, April 16hth via Sharptone Records. Vocalist Lucas Woodland comments: “We’re super excited to release ‘Nomoreroses’ on the homestretch before TGMOML comes out next week! The song is definitely a heavier and more progressive track than people have heard from us in a while, which is perfect as it represents just how varied the record is. ‘Nomoreroses’ is lyrically a song about a sour relationship with god, looking at how hard it can be to believe in a god that seemingly doesn’t believe in you”.  In the band’s own words: “This album is about telling stories that are presented through the lens of hindsight, regret and looking back. There are songs that celebrate life when faced with death, and others that speak to the choices we make about how we live our lives. The fear of love, newfound respect for life and the covering up of depression are all subjects that rear their [Read More]

Greta Van Fleet soar to new heights with the upcoming release of The Battle at Garden’s Gate

April 9, 2021

ev·o·lu·tion: noun the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form. “The evolution of Greta Van Fleet’s music is wildly apparent with their new release of The Battle at Garden’s Gate.” First, I must reveal that our love for Greta Van Fleet began long ago, in early 2017, as their gritty old style rock n roll captivated us from first listen. Their music soon became the soundtrack to some of our most difficult times. We sifted through what remained of our home and business which were lost in the Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire, blaring Black Smoke Rising, the music providing a cathartic release. Over the years, their music and shows have satisfied our intense need for Rock n Roll. As we waited for their new release in hopes of another “Highway Tune” or “Safari Song” to whisk us away into rock abyss, we were teased with music that was definitely of a different style. With each new prerelease, we could sense that with the arrival of The Battle of Garden’s [Read More]

The Wallflowers release first single “Roots And Wings” of their upcoming record

April 9, 2021

The Wallflowers will release their new record “Exit Wounds” on July 9th via New West Records. Last night they introduced the first single “Roots And Wings” at Jimmy Kimmel Live!. It’s their first record for almost a decade. It was produced by Butch Walker (Taylor Swift, Weezer). “Exit Wounds” was mixed by Chris Dugan (Green Day) and singer-songwriter Shelby Lynn participates on four of the tracks. Though it’s been almost a decade, since we last heard from the band with which Jakob Dylan made a name for himself, he always knew they’ll return. “The Wallflowers is much of my life’s work“, he simply says. True to it’s title “Exit Wounds” is an ode to people – individual and collective – that have, to say the least, been through a lot. Jakob Dylan says: “I think everybody – no matter what side of the aisle you’re on – wherever we’re going to next, we’re all taking a lot of exit wounds with us,” Dylan says. “Nobody is the same as they were four years ago. That, [Read More]
