The Amatory Murder “Exploiting our Dreams” EP awakens your dark side!

TAM

The Amatory Murder from Brooklyn, New York has been categorized as a Synth or Goth Rock Band. Many years ago, before the many classifications and genre borders, The Amatory Murder would have been just called Alternative or Modern Rock. Correction…. An awesome Alternative/Modern Rock Band.

Band Members:

  • Christian Peppas on Vox, Synth, Programming
  • Joey Halimi on Lead Guitar
  • Marios Drakos on Rhythm Guitar
  • Ernest D’Amaso on Bass Guitar, Backing Vox
  • Ben Tourkatonis on Drums

The Amatory Murder are set to release their EP Exploiting Our Dreams on March 31st and it will be another must have album.  It starts off with one of my favorite songs off it, A Haunting. It delivers some heavy guitars, powerful vocals and creates an energetic mysterious vibe. Need is up next and it has an addictive tempo with vocals that transition from commanding to melodic. Another highlight of Need is the drums and the electronics which create this ethereal edge to the song.  They have just released a lyric video for A Haunting and you can check it out here:

You are really going to enjoy their cover of Sting’s King of Pain. They completely bring a new life to this classic and add depths and layers to it that you will appreciate.  Their album really highlights their influences from Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and IAMX to name a few. They have collectively created their own unique sound that can transition across genres and Eleanor is another example of that. It has some great guitar work in it and vocals are emotionally driven on this track. Perverted Views bring back a 90’s vibe that I so miss. It really has an electronic and punk 90’s feel to it yet wrapped in a more modernized style. Definitely a favorite of mine and I love the angst driven vocals.

The EP also includeds remixes by other artists including Elliot Berlin (Telemark, Aesthetic Perfection) and James Francis (Panic Lift). You are literally treated to electro/DJ dance versions that would have everyone in the club loving. It takes me back once again to my ’90s club nights spent in San Francisco and LA! It definitely has a retro feel but also carries a fresh new sound for today.

So make sure to pick up their new EP Exploiting our Dreams on March 31st and awaken your dark side and get moving! You can also catch them for their EP Release Party on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 at Webster Hall in New York, NY.  They will be performing with Alesana, Get Scared, Farewell My Love, Hearts & Hands and Megosh!
