This past Friday, we made it out to the DNA Lounge for a great night of music which included everything from acoustic to punk rock. Check out our coverage of all the bands here: Dead Frets, Travis Hayes and the Young Daze, ToyGuitar and of course Divided Heaven  which is the music project of Jeff Berman. This tour, he has full band in tow and they delivered an incredible energetic set of indie punk.  We had the opportunity to talk with Jeff before his set and are pleased to bring you that interview here:

Jeff recently started his Youngblood Tour in support of his new album, Youngblood which was released earlier this year on Say 10 Records. One thing is for sure, he delivered an energetic set that captured the crowd’s attention and had everyone moving and singing along. His style of music can be described as indie or punk with a great emphasis on the punk. Jeff’s upbeat tempo and punk style created the perfect atmosphere for the DNA Lounge as I reminisced about the punk bands I would catch back in the 80’s on Tuesday nights (those are some good memories!). Check out the photos by Rockin Ryan of the set:

I was glad to see a couple of my favorite songs performed, Melissa Militia and Ego and Nothing More, in addition to hearing some of his older songs which have become some of my new faves Jeff brings a completely new edge to his songs when he performs them with a live band and highlights this punk angst. But I love both the acoustic and live band sets, and I still am so bummed that I didn’t get to see Divided Heaven on Warped Tour as they performed on the Acoustic Basement stage. Jeff brings such emotion to his songs and  his voice is captivating. One of my favorite sets at the DNA Lounge in a very long time. Check out a couple videos from the set:

You can catch Divided Heaven on the West Coast tour dates and I would highly recommend getting out to a show. Also, when you are there, make sure to pick up the Youngblood album and it is available on vinyl, which I am ecstatic about. We picked up both Divided Heaven vinyls at the show and I have been playing them ever since. You can also pick up Youngblood on iTunes here. Youngblood was produced by Charlie Stavish (Imagine Dragons, Ryan Adams) and Stephen Egerton (ALL, Descendents).

Tour dates:

  • September 9 – The Kraken – Seattle, WA
  • September 10 – Twilight – Portland, WA
  • September 11 – The Press Club – Sacramento, CA
  • September 12 – Riley’s – Bakersfield, CA
  • September 13 – Artistic Armory – Las Vegas, NV
