The Hollywood Kills new EP, “Coming of Age” should be marketed as the instant mood elevator! Who needs antidepressants when you have an EP filled with 5 songs that will get you out of any funk you could ever be in.  I love music that makes you feel so alive and takes you to even a new found level of euphoric bliss.

The Hollywood Kills may be from Nashville, TN but they mean business with their rock n roll sound sprinkled with punk, pop and even Motown. You will be instantly hooked on this one. The EP was mixed and produced by the amazingly talented, Brian Virtue ( Deftones, Korn, Janes Addiction, Kiss, 30 Seconds to Mars, the list can go on and on). Members Brent Powelson, Preston Jackson, Johnny Angel and Dylan Rowe worked together to create a spectacular EP that will arouse all your sense.

EP

Coming of Age  starts right off with a cool guitar intro and great build up. This song is just as it describes, it is like having your senses all awakened and literally makes you feel so alive. The vocals come in and captivate you as you can’t help but put a smile on your face and feel content. It is a perfect Go To song when you need a pick me up. Actually the entire album is perfect for that!

Rag Doll is a very cool song as it brings a bit more soul and groove to their pop punk infused rock. I love the dirty/sexy guitars, gruffy/sensual vocals and the whole song delivers an attitude that is not only groove inducing but seductive as well. You can’t sit still if you are listening to this song, it just isn’t possible!

I Don’t Walk Straight has a megaphone vocal style intro that I have always loved. It has a blend of punk anthemic attitude amidst bluesy guitars that I can’t get enough of. You will be singing along in no time as you are moving around.

Loose Change takes the heat a notch up, with a seductive tale of some women I am sure many are all too familiar with:

“Strut around like you are top dollar, baby

and really you are just loose change”

It has some of the best lyrics and the catchiest melody blended with sexy guitars. There would be no way for me to pick a favorite off this album. Honey is the last song and once again, it gets hot in here with a lusty tune!

Make sure to pick up your copy on Itunes here and when you start to listen, it will be as if you put on those rose colored glasses. Everything is finer, colors are brighter, emotions intensified and you can’t help but share in your elation as you listen to The Hollywood Kills. Remember that old saying, “Don’t worry, be happy” it should be changed to “Don’t Worry, Listen to The Hollywood Kills!”
