Tyson Leslie delivers a treasure with his new melodic rock album, Train Wrecks Havoc and Heartbreak

Tyson Leslie

You may not be familiar with the name Tyson Leslie but I am sure you have heard him play or seen him  perform live. He has played alongside the likes of Corey Taylor, (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Gavin DeGraw, Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart, Vanilla Fudge, etc), George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) and as a temporary member of Red Line Chemistry (touring with Whitesnake). Now is the time for you to get to know Tyson Leslie as he steps into center spotlight with his new album, Train Wrecks Havoc and Heartbreak.

His new album can be described as a blend of power pop, melodic rock, Southern rock and more. You are treated to fun upbeat tracks, catchy choruses, power ballads and anything to fit your mood.  Tyson explains more about how he began his journey with his new music, ” It’s been a challenge, and a completely separate train of thought that goes into putting a record together completely by myself.  After years of playing in cover bands and playing other people’s material, it’s been extremely rewarding to finally get these songs out of my computer and my brain, and into the hands and ears of people all over the world. Even when I was playing for Corey Taylor, or jamming with Paul Gilbert and some of the other famous players in the game, I was playing other people’s material.  So to finally get out and play my own music, and be proud of it, and have people love it is one of the most soul fulfilling things I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing.  I’m always looking forward to the next gig.” We are glad that Tyson did since his album is a definite work of art and a treasure to be enjoyed.

His album starts off with the fun melodic track, Little Green Honda and is the perfect summer in the fun song as you will find yourself singing along to the catchy chorus. Another special track for me is A Mourning to Lament as Tyson feeds your soul with his emotionally driven lyrics wrapped in sweet harmony.  Goodbye to the Rain is an amazing ballad style song and Tyson‘s vocals on it are like sweet caressing kisses that will make you smile and mend your broken heart.

On Stranger, I finally came to the realization that I even find great influences such as 70’s classic and even 50’s doo-wop style, but then I came up with the correct observation. What I am noticing with all these influences and styles, is that the true fact remains; Tyson has created timeless well written songs that can’t be trapped into a particular style, era or genre. He has so simply created beautiful music that everyone can enjoy. The album is a great little gem that you need to add to your music collection.

If He Comes Home is a great track, worthy of high praise for Tyson‘s fun songwriting and personality that he puts into his songs. Blanket for Your Soul is a bluesy style seductive tune and a very smooth track, possibly my favorite on the album. Well that wouldn’t be fair to say, since they all seem to be  my faves and each one has it’s own character and story to tell.

Tyson not only sings on all the track but aside from the drums, he plays all the instruments.  When it came to drumming, Tyson brought in Go-Go Ray. Tyson explains, “I had my favourite drummer Go-Go Ray come in and lay down all the drum tracks because I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing drums on my first record but him.  After playing music with him for about 14 years, there was no question who belonged on this CD“.

So make sure you check out Tyson Leslie‘s debut album Train Wrecks Havoc and Hearbreak and let me know which is your favorite song! This album truly has me wanting to hear a lot more of Tyson and his music and I am already looking forward to a follow up album!
