Tavis Stanley plays for the incredible band Art of Dying and has been playing and touring for the past 15 years. What great experience you will get by learning from this teacher. He is offering online courses via  Skype and fits them within his busy touring schedule. This is a gem that you have to enjoy. Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators ROCK Oakland!

October 3, 2012

What an awesome night it was…. Last night I was at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA to cover Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators show. I did learn earlier in the week that Myles Kennedy was suffering through a bout of bronchitis and I was glad to see that the show was still going to go on! The first opening band was Electric Sister which is a true hard rock band from Oakland, California. These guys put on a great show with incredible energy and their music is a blend of hard rock with punk and classic rock swirled in.  You will have to take the time and check out their music, I will be writing more about them at a later date. Next up is one of my new favorite bands, Foxy Shazam. I have been wanting to see them live for the past year and unfortunately had to miss my other opportunities. I wish I would have seen them sooner because now I know what I was missing and I want [Read More]

Enjoy a Funky Rock and Blues Fusion with AmAEvolutioN!

September 30, 2012

The great thing about Music is that there are so many different genres out there to enjoy at any time. I love not being pegged into a music genre hole and just listening to one thing. I listen to all types of music and enjoy each one of them. So today I want to introduce you to enjoy a  Funky Rock and Blues fusion cocktail that is AmAEvolutioN.  They have such an incredible sound that just blends so many types of music and just comes together beautifully.  You will hear some Rock, R & B, Soul, Funk and Blues all meshed together that just has me captivated! Being a native from the Bay Area, I applaud Berkeley native Nadiya Lewis on her commanding presence on her vocals. She just sings right to your soul and you can just feel her emotions!  Then you can really enjoy the guitarist Sergio de Paula Lima as he lays down some great guitar work complimenting the cool bass lines of Musashi “Moose” Lethridge  and topping it off with the smooth [Read More]

Get your Rock and Roll Fix with Shotgun Harlot!

September 26, 2012

Sometimes with music today, I long to hear down and dirty ROCK n ROLL!! You know what I am talking about, right? The kind of Rock that has you with your fists in the air, drink in the other hand and just raising some hell with your friends. Those were the good days but wait, they don’t have to be in the past. There is a great band that I saw last month, Shotgun Harlot when they opened up for 12 Stones at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma. You can revisit my review of that night here: “‘Get Infected with 12 Stones”.  That was an awesome night and I really fell in love with Shotgun Harlot. Well I recently had the opportunity to interview Dylan D. Waltz lead singer of the band and here is what he had to say: Music Junkie Press:     How and when did Shotgun Harlot come together? Dylan Waltz:   I was in the process of piecing together a new band when a mutual friend of Joe and [Read More]

Denmark dishes up some some Cold Black for great Hard Rock!

September 11, 2012

I have been listening lately to some great Heavy Hard Rock by the Danish Band, Cold Black. I discovered them a few weeks ago and have been anxiously waiting for their EP which is just released. They have a great heavy sound that reminds me of  some of my favorite bands, like Asking Alexandria blended with Black Veil Brides and a touch of Motley Crue old school style! Leave it to the Danish to give us some new awesome hard hitting rock as we continue to thank them for the great gift of Lars Ulrich. So coming from their hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark; Cold Black is Victor “Terry” Rimpler on Vocals and Bass, Alex Rimpler and Martin “Sane” Dupont on guitars and Jamal Aaron Gordon on drums. They have just released their new video which is produced by Torben Packert, and has Patrick Dræby Ravn on cameras/editing along with Production by Tobias Wiig Jørgensen, Lucas Haim & Pernille Bitsch and the assistance of Patrick Schouw & Anders Elgaard. Victor blends his charismatic chorus with his awesome hard hitting [Read More]
