hERETICS iN tHE lAB set to release new album Suture on November 12th!

Next week hERETICS iN tHE lAB are set to release their new album, Suture on November 12, 2013 through Sacrific Records. This industrial metal band has a sound that reminds me of a blend of Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. They have had great success in the underground goth/industrial scene and are now making great headway in the mainstream of heavy metal and rock genres and making new fans each day. They have been known to put on intense live shows that leave the audiences in awe. They will be having a CD release party at The Wave in Norfolk, VA on November 12, 2013. Strange Talk from Australia set to play San Francisco Nov. 5th!

Strange Talk, eletropop band from Melbourne, Australia is coming to San Francisco next week! They will be performing at Brick & Mortar on November 5th, 2013. You can more details on tickets at their website. Strange Talk is set to release their self-produced debut album Cast Away in early 2014 via Wind-Up Records. They have their debut single, “Climbing Walls” is out on radio play now. These guys have a great new refreshing sound. They blend a bit of the eighties pop with a touch of 90’s electro and then wrapped into their own edgy style. The Unlikely Candidates have my vote for great new music!

Last night Blue October returned to the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco for their SWAY tour. Opening up for them was a fantastic five piece band from Keller, Texas called The Unlikely Candidates. They have a strong alternative rock/grunge style that blends with a bit of southern rock. It is a perfect combination that brings these five guys together to form The Unlikely Candidates. They came out with an energetic and charismatic performance. On guitars you have Brent Carney and Cole Male. Cole has a spirited stage presence and Brent delivers some great backing vocals as well. Jared Hornbeek jumps around and gets the crowd pumped with his smooth bass lines. Kevin Goddard and his intense energy deliver pack a punch heavy drumming. The singer, Kyle Morris truly brings the crowd to their feet as he not only dishes out amazing vocals, but is high spirited in his stage antics. Marla Mase, Messenger of Peace brings her music to the stage

Top 25 Cover/Remake Songs You have to know!

I have always loved cover songs, most specifically cover songs that I end up liking even better than their original. During many of my my interviews with bands, one of my favorite questions I ask is if they could take a song from any other genre and turn it into their own, what would it be? I have had some great responses, like Jettblack rockers doing a cover of Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero“, or Wratchchild doing a cover of the Beach Boys, “California Girls” or A Story Beneath doing a cover of the Mamas and the Papas, “California Dreamin“. Those are all remakes that I hope get made. What I really like is when an artists takes the original song and completely makes it their own, truly owns it and not just imitates.
