Black Label Society to headline Revolver Golden Gods Tour 2014!

The boys in Black Label Society have been quite busy lately! Just last week during the NAMM 2014 Convention they headlined the 12th annual Schecter Party at the Grove in Anaheim as well as released their new single My Dying Time. They have just announced that they will be headlining the Revolver Golde Gods Tour presented by Epiphone and is set to start on April 16th in Seattle, Washington and end on June 7th in Los Angeles, California. Their new single is now available on Itunes, My Dying Time is off of their upcoming album, Catacombs of the Black Vatican” which is set for an April 8th release. Prayers and Condolences go out to Jake Pitts for the loss of his mom, Carolyn

Yesterday was the funeral for the beautiful mother of Jake Pitts (Black Veil Brides) Carolyn Marie Carlson-Pitts. Carolyn died unexpectedly at the young age of 58 on January 18th, 2014. We all know that we someday will have to endure the loss of our parents and it is quite painful and devastating. I, myself lost my best friend, my father just over 2 years ago on September 2nd, 2011 and not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. Jake posted the photo below on his instagram with the following caption: ‘Words cannot describe the feelings, thoughts, prayers, cries, and laughter today. I had to face something everyone will have to one day but I didn’t expect this for another 20 years. Today my mother Carolyn was laid to rest while I’ll wear a piece of her around my neck and take her to places she’s never been. My mother wasn’t normal, just like me, and so many others. Dave Grohl inspires at SXSW Dave Grohl delivers an incredibly inspiring Keynote Address at SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Dave’s speech is absolutely remarkable to watch. His sense of humor and personality really shines through. If you are a musician, there is no way possible that you can watch this video and not be even more inspired and dedicated to music. His speech goes on to recount his Do-it-Yourself Recordings when he was just 12 years old and also how Nirvana changed his life and how he dealt with the death of Kurt Cobain. You really have to watch it for yourself. It possibly can be the best spent 60 minutes you spend to keep your motivation and dedication to music. One of our Bay Area legends; Ronnie Montrose passed away at 64.

When I think of Ronnie Montrose, I think of the Bay Area and all the great nightclubs that had the honor of having Montrose play at. I know Ronnie was known worldwide but he was our local Bay Area legend. Ronnie was born on November 29, 1947 and grew up in San Francisco. His first band was Sawbuck in 1969. He later went on to play with such greats like Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs, Edgar Winter Group and then finally in 1973 he formed his own incredible band, Montrose which featured Sammy Hagar on vocals. After putting out albums as Montrose or Ronnie Montrose, he then formed GAMMA and then continued on playing with Seattle band; Rail, Paul Kantner, and even added his guitar work to Gary Wright’s “Power of Love”. Yes it is that time of year where people start asking you about who you are voting for and wondering who will win. I mean really, we all want to know how the voting will turn out. No, I don’t mean the Presidential Election! I am talking about something more important and much more relevant to our everyday lives…. Who will win the Paul Gray Best Bassist Award or Riff Lord. What I am talking about is the Revolver Golden Gods Awards which are being held on April 11th, 2012 at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles. RIP to one of the great Metal Guitarists, Mark Reale

Well, I heard the sad news of the passing of Mark Reale, founder and guitarist of the heavy metal band, Riot earlier this week. I was stunned since I had really hoped and prayed for his recovery from his coma resulting from complications with his Crohn’s Disease. Mark Reale was born June 7, 1955 and only at 20 created the band Riot which is still active today. In fact, in August 2011 they had completed the final mixing of their album hauntingly “Immortal Soul” and were soon touring. They were getting ready for another round of shows and Mark then suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage that resulted in a coma on January 11, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. He remained in the coma and subsequently passed away on January 25, 2012. Mark Reale was often dubbed the Metal Warrior or one of the most underrated heavy metal guitarists. Jani Lane RIP

Last night at around 9:15 I got a call and I was shocked to hear what the other person said. “Did you hear what happened to Jani Lane?” What I was hoping to hear some news about how he was returning to sing lead for Warrant just in time for us to catch their show in September in Reno. What I didn’t expect to hear was that he was found dead in a Southern California hotel. My heart hit the floor and I was overcome with sadness in hearing of another one of my personal favorite musician die too soon. I don’t have much to say right now about it but I do have a video that Ryan put together for me to honor Jani Lane. Here it is: I will try and write more tomorrow. For now I just want to know that Jani is at peace and not battling his demons anymore. ~ Marisol
