Ashley Xtina new EP Stability will bring harmony to your heart

June 27, 2014

I love how the simple act of listening to music can bring out a range of emotions or even bring a particular memory to surface. I love when a musician can connect so well to the listener that their words and visions intertwine with the each other. Tonight, I experienced just that when I listened to the new EP Stability by Ashley Xtina. Four amazingly well written songs that are not only emotionally driven but complete capture the listener and transports them to another place. The vocal range and execution by Ashley is gratifying. Her voice can transition from powerful to vulnerable, from mysterious to sultry and so much more. The first track So Sorry has a soothing almost ethereal intro and then you are greeted with the crisp and heartfelt lyrics of Ashley. It’s honest and raw lyrics can provide a source of comfort for so many as they can connect to the song. The piano intro on Angel creates the perfect dramatic backdrop for Ashley‘s passionate vocals. Once again tender lyrics are sung [Read More]

Icon For Hire was one of the highlights of our Warped Tour Coverage

June 23, 2014

This year Vans Warped Tour had many great bands on several stages. It truly became hard to choose where to go and who to check out. What is great is that we still have another full day of Warped Tour to check out all the bands we did miss. Saturday was the perfect day for Warped Tour, hot but not extremely blazing as it has been in the past. There were lines that went to the back of the parking lot as early as 9:30. Nobody wanted to miss out on catching all the great bands. There is one band that I have to tell you about. After running around from the main stages to the amphitheatre stages, I found myself at the Hard Rock Kevin Says Stage at 6:30. I was there just in time for the 6:35 start of Icon For Hire which I didn’t know anything about (I know, shame on me, shake your finger at me and tell me that it was very bad that I hadn’t heard of them before!!). June 17, 2014

I have a great band to tell you about for some energetic aggressive pop punk that will get you pumped up and ready to start your day off right. I am talking about Nine Volt Heart from the UK. Nine Volt Heart is Mikey Lord on vocals/guitar, Paul Norfolk on guitar, Ed Truby on bass and Alex Sheldon on drums. These four bring together a fresh new take on punk infused with some melodic pop rock styles.  The perfect combo to get you moving. Nine Volt Heart currently has their new album, The Miracle Kids out now. You can pick up the 12 track album on their bandcamp page here. You will love it since it features a variety of tracks from the amped up pop punk anthem of the title track, The Miracle Kids to the emotionally driven song of breathe? to the kick ass track of Teenage Fantasy and everything in between. They really remind me of another young pop punk band that I fell in love with many, many years ago; Material Issue. Check out a cool video [Read More]
