The Doors Examined is a must read on the legendary band!

June 29, 2013

Summertime for me, is usually filled with long relaxing days, listening to music,  sitting out on the patio in the evening and enjoying a really good book. Well this time I have a book that is perfect for you! Whether you are a long time or new  Doors fan, music lover or not. The book is The Doors Examined by Jim Cherry. This book is perfect for all levels of Doors buffs or simply interested in a piece of rock and roll history.  There are so many books out about the Doors but with this book, you get an honest, non biased in depth look at all aspects of  Doors and the supporting characters who where witness to the events surrounding the Doors. In my early twenties, I actually worked on Oliver Stone’s controversial movie,  The  Doors as an extra for several of their concert scenes as well as the infamous Indian dance scene with Val Kilmer portraying Jim Morrison. I will have to try and dig up photos for you. Jim provides an easy to [Read More]

Burn Halo’s new lineup is Tearing it Down in Sacramento!

May 21, 2012

Burn Halo which was created by James Hart (frontman of Eighteen Visions) sometime in 2007. They recently went through some lineup changes. Don’t worry, Joey Roxx, their kick ass guitarist is right up front and center (well stage left to be exact!) They brought in Sonny Tremblay on drums, Chris Paterson on rhythm guitar and Ryan Frost on bass guitar. I have had the pleasure of seeing Burn Halo about 8 times since 2009 and I was ready to see Burn Halo with their new lineup at the Boardwalk- a small historical nightclub outside of Sacramento in Orangevale that has housed bands such as Hoobastank, Mudvayne, Thrice, Collective Soul, Black Veil Brides and so many more. For a complete list, visit their website listing of bands at www.http://www.boardwalkrocks.com/boardwalk.php So this night up on the bill would be a six band lineup to include: Force of Habit, Some Fear None, Track Fighter, The Veer Union, Burn Halo and headliner Smile Empty Soul on their Jagermeister tour.  One of the early times I saw Burn Halo is [Read More]

Shinedown – “Amaryllis” is a true work of art by a great band!

March 20, 2012

Shinedown’s new album  Amaryllis was up for a free stream tonight on Itunes. I have already pre-ordered it and am planning on seeing them twice at the end of the month but I couldn’t wait to hear the new album so I took a listen. I am glad I did. I am just reeling with joy on this one! So I got onto Itunes and right off the start is a great hard hitting song “Adrenaline” which will have you ready to rock and gives you an immediate shot of sweet adrenaline. You know that Shinedown has been working hard to bring you another Kick Ass Rock Album with this one and you really get ready to rock when you hear this song and the incredible guitar work. Next of course is the new single “Bully” that has been quickly climbing the rock charts and soon to be Number One. This song will have you cheering for the underdog who has had enough of the bully picking on them. We all may, at one time have [Read More]

David Rosales brings Hope and Love to feed your Soul with Smile.

January 25, 2012

SMILE by David Rosales. Music that brings Hope and Love to feed your soul and make you Smile. That is how I can describe the romantic and beautiful debut record, “Smile” by David Rosales. David brings together a well crafted arrangement of songs that highlights love, loss and life after. “Key to My Heart” is the first song I got to hear from the record and if ever there was a song where the vocals could touch your soul and bring the emotion of love to life, it is that of “Key to My Heart”. David’s vocals are like a safe haven for a warm heart and Olivia May’s vocals are the sweet touch of innocence wrapped in your arms. David expresses himself eloquently through his deep vocals and his storytelling as heard in ‘Wedding Day” or “All that you Love”. In “Wedding Day” , we are given a glimpse into the special day with his captivating lyrics such as “pedal covered soft parade”. The romance of true love dance through the lyrics and [Read More]

Adler’s Appetite has satisfied my appetite for ROCK!!!

July 4, 2011

So yes you all know I am hungry!! I have been hungry for some awesome replay of the 80’s ROCK!! Not just imitation rock or glam pate, I have been searching for my 80’s fix for quite a while now. Well I GOT IT and I GOT IT GOOD!! My son Ryan begged me months ago to buy tickets to see Adler’s Appetite as they were playing in San Francisco on July 1, 2011. It wasn’t hard to convince me since I have always loved Guns n Roses and have watched Steven Adler on Celebrity Rehab and read his book. For those of you that know me well, I had a major 2nd stroke four years ago that I took some time to recover from. But whatever the causes, I share a special bond with a fellow stroke survivor, I have been rooting for Steven for some time now! Well, I went to San Francisco the other night with my friend Laura Sixx, husband Stephen and son Ryan. We got there and found out it [Read More]

New Politics – Energizer Bunny meets Nirvana

May 10, 2011

New Politics is an energetic trio which hails from Copenhagen, Denmark. I first got to see New Politics when they opened up for The Spill Canvas a little over a year ago; April 29, 2010. I was their to do a review on AM TAXI which was another one of the opening bands and was situated up in the balcony at Slim’s awaiting the other bands. The second New Politics came out, I left the balcony to get a closer listen and look of this awesome band. Fast forward to May 8, 2011. I am taking my 13 year old Rocker son Ryan and his friends to The Fillmore in San Francisco to see them. Over the past year, I was able to check them out a couple more times and they never disappoint. I couldn’t wait to see them perform at The Fillmore. The Fillmore is my place of choice for reviewing performers. I feel the history of The Fillmore incarnates the presence of all previous performers and invokes their energy and persona to [Read More]
