The Unlikely Candidates have my vote for great new music!

October 10, 2013

Last night Blue October returned to the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco for their SWAY tour. Opening up for them was a fantastic five piece band from Keller, Texas called The Unlikely Candidates.  They have a strong alternative rock/grunge style that blends with a bit of southern rock. It is a perfect combination that brings these five guys together to form The Unlikely Candidates. They came out with an energetic and charismatic performance. On guitars you have Brent Carney and Cole Male. Cole has a spirited stage presence and Brent delivers some great backing vocals as well. Jared Hornbeek jumps around and gets the crowd pumped with his smooth bass lines. Kevin Goddard and his intense energy deliver pack a punch heavy drumming.  The singer, Kyle Morris truly brings the crowd to their feet as he not only dishes out amazing vocals, but is high spirited in his stage antics.  They really put on a powerful show and for an opening band, delivered a headlining performance. You will definitely want to check out this band. One [Read More]

Countdown to new EP by Southerland Nights and interview with Adam!

October 8, 2013

We are counting down the days to the release of Southerland Night‘s new EP, Destroy Something Beautiful. This three piece rock band from Houston, Texas has an incredible devout following that are aptly called The Accolade. Once  you take a listen to their emotionally driven high energy alternative rock, you will have no other choice than to join us and be part of The Accolade.  Their music reminds me of what would be a cross between early David Bowie and Thirty Second To Mars with a side of Depeche Mode. The band consists of singer/guitarist Adam Elara, bassist Andy Nova and drummer Stephen Adwell. They recently released a very heartwarming and uplifting video for their song, “Here I Am“. You can watch the video here: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzpfm22jhUA&feature=youtu.be]   We had the opportunity to interview Adam and we are pleased to bring that interview to you: * * * * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: How old were you when you first started playing music? Adam: I was 14 when Andy (our bassist) taught [Read More]

Sebastian Bach working on new album with Duff McKagan, Steve Stevens and John 5!

October 8, 2013

I remember the first time I ever saw Sebastian Bach. He was with Skid Row (who are we kidding… HE IS SKID ROW, anyway back to the story!!!) and they were the opening act for Aerosmith at the Cow Palace in Daly City (near San Francisco) and it was 1989. I had waited in line since 7 am with about another 100 crazy Aerosmith fans just so we could be up front and on the rail.  It was amazing because as I was front and center ready to watch Aerosmith, I didn’t know that I was about to meet what soon became one of my all time favorite bands…..  Skid Row came out and Sebastian Bach just had everyone on their feet and READY TO ROCK!! The crowd was rushing up front at the first song… Yes, security was even yelling….. GET BACK or should I say…. GET BACH!!!! Ok, seriously it was intense, I knew that this young kid was soon going to take over the rock and roll world. Fast forward to today [Read More]

State Line Empire releases new EP Raise Your Sins

September 30, 2013

I love new releases of music. What really gets me excited is when I have a band that I found just by them being an opening act for a headliner and have them become one of my favorite bands. It is the excitement that I get when I got to a show and not know anything about the opening bands and then be treated to a true gem of music. That is what happened several years ago as I watched State Line Empire open up for Steven Adler’s then titled band, Adler’s Appetite at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco. State Line Empire quickly became one of our family’s favorite bands with hits like   and . They just had everything we were looking for in rock and roll with a  hint of metal strewn right in. Fast forward to today and I have to share their new release with you. It is awesome! Sometimes bands come out with a new EP trying to re-invent themselves or just giving you a cookie cutter of [Read More]
