Justin Furstenfeld opens his heart on his Open Book Tour

April 8, 2013

A few months ago I told you about how one of my favorite singers announcing his solo tour to highlight the release of the third edition of his book! Yes, Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October. You can read that post here. Well, I can’t wait to tell you how everything went. First, remember when I told you I took my son Rockin Ryan to see Blue October in November 2012 and how Justin loved Ryan’s jacket and Ryan was going to make one?? Read that post here.  Well, Ryan spent the past two months making one for Justin and couldn’t wait to give it to him at the show last Friday at The Observatory in Santa Ana. We set out for the 7 hour drive right after dropping Brandon off to school, perfectly scheduled to arrive at 3:45 in plenty of time for the Meet and Greet and Soundcheck. Well, we didn’t calculate the 10 miles per hour traffic from LA to Santa Ana. 9 hours later! We arrived late at 5:25 and missed most of the [Read More]

Get ready for a shot of hard rock with Snakeskyn Whiskey!

March 27, 2013

Do you remember the first time you were at a concert and you were blown away by the opening band? Like seriously just excited to find out more about them and to get hooked on their music? Well that is what it was like for many fans who went out to see CrashDiet at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco this past Monday (March 25, 2013).  Out on tour with CrashDiet and opening up for them that night were the hard rockers from Montreal, Canada, Snakeskyn Whiskey. These four guys deliver in your face aggressive rock and roll with non stop energy.  If you have ever been to the top of the DNA Lounge, you will know what I am talking about when I tell you how they dominated that small stage with their big sound. We had the chance to sit down with  Snakeskyn Whiskey before the show and they told us about how diverse the music scene is in Montreal and how the different genres of music compete for the shows at the music venues. Revolver Golden Gods Awards 2013 Viewing Party Guide

March 13, 2013

Party Planning Guide for Revolver Golden Gods Awards 2013! As you know from my recent post about the Oscars, we don’t throw parties to watch the award shows unless it is the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Well, with the awards being only 6+ weeks ago, we have to get started in planning your perfect Revolver Golden Gods Awards Viewing Party!  The date for the show is May 2, 2013. 4 to 5 Weeks before your party Make an Invitation List. Here is where you have to really tailor your list to the right audience. When you are drawing up your list of names; ask yourself some questions about the guests so you know you are targeting the right guests. The last thing you want at your party is someone asking over and over is Kanye going to sing?,  or Who is Metallica? or even worse, what is this Revolver thing – thought it was a gun??? Time to show them the door and you may want to rethink them as your friend at that point!! [Read More]

While She Waits heals with their song “Face Behind the Gates”

March 11, 2013

Music. Music is so many things to me. Music inspires me. Music energizes me. Music heals me. Music touches me. So many times in my life, whether they were good or bad, I can always remember that Music was right there to be part of it and to be my cheering section or my support team. My true friend has always been Music. I am so grateful to have Music in my life. Today I wanted to share with you a special time in my life and how music again, is there for me. I had the opportunity to listen to a new song by one of my favorite new bands, “While She Waits“. The song is “Face Behind the Gates”. I listened to it and was truly mesmerized by it. It brought me to a special place and to remember a special person. It was even more eerie because after I listened to it, I reread the post about the song and how it was written by the singer James Ryan Cole and was [Read More]

While She Waits inks a deal with TMG Records for their new album

March 6, 2013

While She Waits joins the TMG Records family. It has only been a couple months since I first introduced you to the awesome new rock band, While She Waits  from Phoenix, Arizona. In that short amount of time, so many great things have been happening for them. They just recently announced inking a record deal with TMG Records.  Their new album is planned to hit major music retails such as Walmart, Best Buy, etc by the end of this year. Luke Johns, TMG Records A&R representative, explains what caught their ear about the band,  “What stands out to us about WHILE SHE WAITS is their great alternative and classic rock sound, but more than anything, we love their energy. We get hundreds of submissions every week from bands wanting us to check them out, but what’s really unique about WHILE SHE WAITS, beyond what we normally hear and even beyond what’s popular right in hard rock right now, is that their music hits hard and never stops. The music is intelligent, well written and really [Read More]

Get to know Justin Emord of Love and a .38

March 5, 2013

I have been enjoying the new song “Just a Woman” by one of my favorite bands, Love and a .38. I know I have told you about them several times before (featured as one of our 12 Days of Rock Christmas) and I hope by now, you all have added their music to your playlists especially “Rock ‘n Lola” and “Lovely Lies”. These rockers are some of the hardest working guys in the business that are on a mission to deliver that much needed rock sound that we have all been missing and craving! They are not only working on their new album, but have been kicking ass performing shows in LA as well as heading out to SXSW later this week. Before they head out to their next show, we were able to catch up with their incredibly talented, high energy bassist Justin Emord. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: Thanks Justin for taking time out with us at Music Junkie Press.
