The Doors Examined is a must read on the legendary band!

June 29, 2013

Summertime for me, is usually filled with long relaxing days, listening to music,  sitting out on the patio in the evening and enjoying a really good book. Well this time I have a book that is perfect for you! Whether you are a long time or new  Doors fan, music lover or not. The book is The Doors Examined by Jim Cherry. This book is perfect for all levels of Doors buffs or simply interested in a piece of rock and roll history.  There are so many books out about the Doors but with this book, you get an honest, non biased in depth look at all aspects of  Doors and the supporting characters who where witness to the events surrounding the Doors. In my early twenties, I actually worked on Oliver Stone’s controversial movie,  The  Doors as an extra for several of their concert scenes as well as the infamous Indian dance scene with Val Kilmer portraying Jim Morrison. I will have to try and dig up photos for you. Jim provides an easy to [Read More]

Vampires Everywhere! is your “Drug of Choice”

June 19, 2013

Long before the popularity of Twilight or True Blood, there were the Vampire classics like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Bela Lugosi and my personal favorite, The Lost Boys. It is from these classics that Michael Vampire of  Vampires Everywhere!  drew on these influences and became inspired.  Their sound is a blend of industrial metal/rock and is currently described as shock rock. I have recently been listening to their latest CD, “Hellbound and Heartless” and with high energy songs like  ‘Drug of Choice” or “Star of 666” you can easily get hooked.  A couple of my other earlier favorites are “Undead Heart” and “Immortal Love”, and have a great industrial/alternative rock sound to them. You can really hear their influence of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie but with a more updated edgier sound to it that I thing makes them stand out. Time to let your dark side out to come and play. Vampires Everywhere! recently headlined at the world famous Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip earlier this week. Frontman Michael Vampire, Chris Christ and [Read More]

June 18, 2013

Falling in Reverse set the Roxy on fire today for their daytime show which was streamed live worldwide. This live stream was presented by Hot Topic and the only way to get into this exclusive show was to pre-order their new CD bundle “Fashionably Late” which was released today, June 18th on Epitaph Records. For those that purchased the package in the Southern California Hot Topic stores were treated to a free all ages show at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. We had the opportunity to watch the show and I will let you know…. Falling in Reverse is a force to be reckoned with. This just may be their year and I am very excited for all of them.  This band has had to endure many ups and downs and to see how far they have come after climbing over a mountain of haters they are certainly reigning as “Champions”.  Obviously their haters are their motivators and if they continue to push the bar with their music, they will continue to rise to [Read More]
