Brody Dalle solo album Diploid Love OUT NOW and she starts tour tonight at Slim’s

May 21, 2014

Brody Dalle‘s Debut Solo release, Diploid Love is available now on CD and Vinyl. This solo album is a deeply personal album as it takes the listener on a journey about life, creating it, living it and surviving it. Brody spent a year writing, playing, recording and co-producing her first solo album, a riotous blast of punk rock with a pop sheen that storms through ideas about the modern age, triumphing against the odds and even spirituality. The ex-Distillers front woman co-produced the album with Alain Johannes (Arctic Monkeys, Them Crooked Vultures, Mark Lanegan) at his studio, and at her and husband Josh Homme’s studio Pink Duck, both in California. “I’ve always had a hand in crafting how it’s going to sound and hearing it and trying to make that happen. But it’s the first time I’ve put my name on something for production,” she says of the release.  Brody wrote all the songs and played almost all the instruments you can hear on the album herself, with a few incredible guests that included Shirley Manson [Read More]

Interview with Ryan McCombs of SOiL at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco

May 21, 2014

Earlier this week, we brought you our coverage from the kick ass SOiL concert as they made their stop in San Francisco at the DNA Lounge for the Born To Ride 2 Tour with (hed) p.e. One thing is for sure when SOiL performs, the energy is intense and you feel charged and ready to go.  This night was no different as SOiL came out in full force and ready to take control. There was non stop energy and the crowd was equally fired up.  We had the chance to chat with singer Ryan before his set and you can check out that interview here: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NjdUczaxsY&feature=youtu.be] Their set was awesome and I had wished it went on for another hour!! One of the highlights was when vocalist Ryan McCombs came off the stage and into the audience to sing “Halo”. The crowd loved it and you can see that Ryan loved it just as much. It was definitely a night to remember for them. They also played my favorite song from their new album WHOLE, The Hate Song. [Read More]

Sunflower Dead at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco

May 21, 2014

Last week we covered the amazing Born To Ride 2 Tour at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco with (hed) P.E. and SOiL and it was quite a night. Opening up for them was the great new theatrical Metal/Rock band Sunflower Dead. Wow, what a show these guys put on. Sunflower Dead are based out of Long Beach and this was the first time I heard of them. I was glad we made it to the show early enough to catch them because their set was one not to be missed! Sunflower Dead is: Michael – vocals, piano, accordion Jaboo – lead guitar Jamie Teissiere – guitar Leighton “Lats” Kearns – bass Jimmy Schultz – drums What I really like about them is their stage presence and they bring the theatrical side to their music as each member is a unique character with face paint and stage outfits. They then come to life with their music as it takes you to a dark aggressive journey with fierce metal and hard rock that will have you [Read More]

Ragdoll makes their debut at the Whisky a Go Go and delivers a solid rockin set!

May 20, 2014

Australia rockers Ragdoll have returned to the the US in support of their upcoming release, Ragdoll Rewound which is a compilation of Ragdoll‘s first two releases (‘Ragdoll Rock’ and ‘Here Today’) plus four live recordings, one of which is a new composition, “Rewind Your Mind.” The album is set to release later this week on May 23rd. The trio revisited the first EP and had it remixed and polished the way they had always wanted to hear it. Songs like “Foot to the Floor” sound leaner and meaner while “The Feeling” is even more epic! Any issues the band may have had with the original ‘Here Today’ master have been fully rectified here too; while the new master of “Tell Me” in particular is a lot more dynamic and more true to the original mix. Ragdoll is Ryan Rafferty on (lead vocals, bass), Leon Todd (guitar), and Cam Barrett (drums) and together they are creating a powerful strong rock and roll sound worthy of your attention. With an intense desire to inject new life into the music they love; Ragdoll‘s [Read More]
