NOFX kicks off The Hepatits Bathtub Tour in Berkeley and PUNK ROCK is alive and thriving!

For a Tuesday night in Berkeley, it was anything but quiet as NOFX kicked off “The Hepatitis Bathtub Tour”. The tour which coincides with the release of their new book, The Hepatitis Bathtub and Other Stories will be hitting venues across the county. We caught the opening show at the UC Theatre in Berkeley and it was unbelievable!

The night kicked off with three fantastic punk rock sets. First up was the punk band from Santa Cruz, Fast Asleep. They kicked the show off with a frenzy of raging punk songs that got the crowd riled up within seconds! They had a thrash metal influence in their punk rock that I loved as well. Next up was the kick ass punk band, Mean Jeans out of Portland, Oregon. They delivered a nice dose of old school punk rock that had me craving more of them. We picked up their 7″ at the show and can’t wait to get their other vinyls.

Direct Hit! from Milwaukee came up next and the venue was packed as they hit the stage. They came out and unleashed their fury of punk songs that had the crowd start their moshing. This is one band that really got the crowd laughing with their comedic intros to the songs. They made sure everyone was having fun.

The sold out crowd was in full force as NOFX took the stage. The pit was one large continuous mosh session that seemed to go on for the entire night. NOFX has such a rich and extensive history that the crowd was filled with an amazing variety of cultures, age, etc. It was diverse yet, collectively one huge family coming together for their love of NOFX. The intensity was raging from start to finish and I wouldn’t have expected anything less from a NOFX performance. Check out some photos by Rockin Ryan:

It has been 20 years since they last played in Berkeley and they made sure to definitely make a statement with this show that will leave everyone talking about how incredible it was.
