Our featured Bottle Rock Napa Band of the Day is an all time fave of mine: Gin Blossoms

March 19, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Band is Gin Blossoms. Gin Blossoms has been one of my all time favorite bands and always reminds me of summertime.  I probably think of summer since I remember having my favorite Gin Blossoms Dusted cassette playing on my long summer drives back and forth to LA. I must have worn out that Cassette that summer of 1990. I remember playing them long before my friends hopped on board in 1991/1992 as they re-recorded several of the songs after signing to A&M Records and instantly grew in popularity. Gin Blossoms’ songs are always catchy, fun and carefree. The perfect backdrop for any band. Their music has been described as alternative, melodic rock, pop, folk, and so much more. If I was to describe it I would say Gin Blossoms is like a fun in the sun summer day. If you could take the memories of good times spent with friends, young love, simply having a good time and feeling carefree; that is what Gin Blossoms sounds like. Of course, because [Read More]

Ed Kowalczyk is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Artist of the Day

March 18, 2014

Today we have a very special treat for the featured artist/band of the day. It is Ed Kowalczyk (former lead singer and founding member of LIVE) and he is going to bring his stellar voice to Bottle Rock Napa 2014! I still remember the first time I heard the amazing voice of Ed, it was back in the ’91/’92 and as usual, I went out in search of live bands on a Friday night.  My group of friends and I went to the Paradise Lounge and the DNA Lounge in San Francisco and LIVE was just about to perform there. I remember getting up and going right to the front of the stage and watching the entire set in awe of that amazing voice. Ed’s voice is powerful yet vulnerable, commanding yet inviting, just pure blissful. Ed has ventured out in his solo career for the past several years and have had quite a successful run. When he performs you may get treated to some of your favorite LIVE songs or revel in the bliss [Read More]

Empires is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Band of the Day

March 17, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Band is Empires. From the first time I listened to Empires, I was taken back to the nightlife of the ’90s as I would go club hopping and enjoy grunge, alternative, and mod.  It was a time for you to feel the music and literally have it take over you. Empires are an Indie Alternative band from Chicago that do just that. You can’t help but listen to them and be “in the moment”. Fantastic songwriting, blended with grunge vibes, alternative style, and stirring vocals make this band have the winning combination Empires was formed in 2008 and have successfully two full-length albums, two EPs, and one 7″ single. They are set to release their third full length album, Orphan and is being produced by John Congleton. They have released a video of their new song that is having everyone excited for this new album. Their new song, How Good Does It Feel is awesome and I am soooo in love with it. Those vocals are absolutely mesmerizing! I love their sound and can’t [Read More]

Buckcherry rocks the Heritage Theater for their Spring Tour

March 17, 2014

Buckcherry have recently begun their Spring Tour and we were lucky enough to catch them on their 2nd night at the Heritage Theater in Campbell, CA. The Heritage Theater is a historical venue that dates back to 1938 as it was built as the Campbell Union High School Auditorium. It has undergone restoration and renovations and the Heritage Theater is once again live with music and celebration. Opening for Buckcherry was local bad ass rockers, Spiralarms and British rock sensation The Virginmarys. Both bands were amazing and you can check out our features on both of them.  Buckcherry came out and rocked the house. It was awesome, there was not one person sitting as everyone was up and ready to rock. The energy was high octane and infectious as Buckcherry played a full set with old and new songs, all being fan favorites. You can check out the set list in the following photo. First, I want to tell you about the girl in the photo and give her praise as TRUE [Read More]

Angela Gossow who joined ARCH ENEMY back in 2001 announced that she will be stepping down as the vocalist and will be focusing on artist managment. Angela released the following statement: “Dear ARCH ENEMY fans, this is not easy to tell you…I have decided to step down from being ARCH ENEMY’s voice of anger. After 13 years of pure fucking metal, 6 studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests. I will however remain business manager for ARCH ENEMY, and I will continue to develop my artist management roster. I am staying true to my heavy metal roots, just leaving the spotlight so to speak. I am passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I [Read More]
