Volbeat photo and video highlights from Aftershock

October 28, 2013

Aftershock Festival was amazing with over 30+ bands in the two days and over 35,000 attendees. Many of those fans were there to see the amazing show that Volbeat put on. I have seen Volbeat five times but this was the first time that I got to see Rob Caggiano play with them. It was an awesome set and they sounded so spot on! They played my favorites Fallen, A Warrior’s Call and my new favorite, Lola Montez. I just love that song soooo much. Check out the video that Rockin Ryan made of “A Warrior’s Call” set to footage and photos from their Aftershock set. One thing is for sure, when Volbeat performs, you really feel the energy from the crowd as well as the band. They create such an intensity that you just can’t help but be drawn to them. It was great to see people who had never seen them before, enjoy the show and called it one of their Festival highlights! Make sure you have your copy of “Outlaw Gentlemen and [Read More]

Louna is cancelled from MTV Documentary Series, “Rebel Music”

October 28, 2013

We have some news to report relating to one of our recent Tuesdays Travels pick, Louna. Also, I must tell you I carry my Louna CD from car to car wherever I go. It is one of my favorite CDs and we have all been rocking out to it since we saw them earlier this month in San Francisco as they played with Heaven’s Basement and The Pretty Reckless. Louna is such an amazing band of talented musicians who not only produce excellent rock n roll and recently were going to be part of the MTV Documentary Series, “Rebel Music”. They were going to have a worldwide platform to share their music and what they stand for.  One thing is for sure, this band is so deserving of the feature and they are incredibly talented and deserve to be heard but unfortunately, that will not be so. It was reported today that Louna’s Inclusion in Forthcoming MTV Documentary Series “Rebel Music” Cancelled by Viacom Due to International Pressure from Russia.  We wanted to share with you [Read More]

Interview with Raz Klinghoffer of EarlyRise

October 28, 2013

Earlier this month, we brought to you an interview with Ben Draiman, younger brother of David Draiman of Disturbed and Device. During that interview Ben credited Raz Klinghoffer of EarlyRise and how he gave him great advice with his spectacular cover of Disturbed’s “Stricken”. You can read that interview here: Raz Klinghoffer definitely knows how to do a cover song and make it magical. Raz and his band EarlyRise took Korn’s “Narcissistic Cannibal” and made an incredibly powerful version that is literally breathtaking. Orly Lari’s vocals remind me of a cross between Haley Williams and Cristina Scabbia, two amazing female artists. You can check out the song here: EarlyRise currently has their debut album, “What If” out and is filled with dynamic songs that bring such depth to their music as they have succeeded in what they set out to do, “set out on a unique journey, mixing the poetic side of music with the edgier side of rock”. It is definitely a CD to treasure, complete with emotionally driven lyrics, energetic melodies, and much more [Read More]

HIM, another highlight from Aftershock Festival

October 24, 2013

The Aftershock Festival last month was filled with amazing artists and one of the bands that truly stood out was Finnish band, HIM.  HIM has been consistently delivering their self titled brand of music, “Love Metal” since 1991. They have had a sound that has captured audiences of all ages and genres. What was great to see at the Aftershock Festival were the expanded audience that ranged young kids to seasoned rockers. I truly can’t wait for HIM to return for another show here in  California. We had tickets to see them in Hollywood and San Francisco during their North American tour. Unfortunately they had to cancel the night of the Hollywood show due to Ville Valle’s severe asthma attack which led to pneumonia. We were actually staying at The Grafton on the Sunset Strip walking back from Soundcheck and we actually saw the ambulance that took Ville away. We are glad Ville is doing better and happy to see how strong they have come back and put on a hell of an amazing performance [Read More]

Framing Hanley release three FREE songs!

October 24, 2013

Framing Hanley has been hard at work on their album “The Sum of Who We Are” which was funded entirely by their fanbase via a Kickstarter campaign. The album has taken a bit longer than they had anticipated and due to the delay they are treating their fans to three FREE songs that you can get from their website www.framinghanley.com Vocalist Nixon explains, First and foremost, our incredible fans are the reason it’s even possible. They funded the entire thing on Kickstarter. That is still unbelievable to us. Every band says that they feel like they’re getting better with the years.  So while I feel that’s a trite statement, I can’t deny it. We’ve never written as much material for an album as we did for this one. We had to cut so many songs that we felt were strong.  We also recorded songs for the album that we felt weren’t ‘there’ yet only to go back to the drawing board and get it right.  This record from start to finish will be all that we [Read More]

Spider Rockets deliver the perfect blend of rock

October 24, 2013

I always enjoy hearing from our audience about bands to check out. Most recently I received a tip from Bill (@MetalGod41 on Twitter) to check out Spider Rockets. I had heard of this band before and was glad for the refresh from him. He included their video for “Going Down” in his message and it was awesome! Spider Rockets are from New Jersey and these rockers really kick ass.  They have a very unique sound since they perfectly blend their influences of punk, rock, metal, alternative and much more. Sometimes bands with a variety of influences seem to get lost in their identity, not Spider Rockets. They have created their OWN Identity and it will have you Rockin in no time! Helena Cos is on lead vocals and she has such a charismatic energy while she sings that draws you in. Johnny Nap is on lead guitar and backing vocals and Greg Manning on bass guitar and backing vocals. On drums is Dan Prestup. These four together conjure up some bad ass rock.  Check out their [Read More]

Lynam is out on tour and KICKIN ASS!

October 23, 2013

You may already know how much I LOVE LYNAM but I need to restate the fact again!  Last year we had the pleasure of interviewing Jacob Bunton to discuss  his work with Adler. You can read that post here. Jacob has some of the most unique and breathtaking vocals in the rock industry today! I swear he could melt ice with those vocals…. HOT! HOT! HOT! Well, Lynam has recently recorded a new ablum “Halfway to Hell” that is set to release in November and I can’t wait for it. Meanwhile, they have been busy touring and doing shows. I wish they were coming out West here but if you are anywhere close, you have to get out and see them.  You may even catch them performing my favorite Adler song…. “Good To Be Bad”. Check out this video of them playing it last month.     Of course I hope they will be playing my Lynam favorites too, Save My Soul, Wrong Side of the Grave and White Trash Superstar! So make sure to check [Read More]
