Strange Talk from Australia captures the crowd in San Francisco

March 22, 2014

Strange Talk were quite busy performing nine shows at SXSW this year and then they set out to tour with Sounds. Last night Melbourne, Australian alternative pop band, Strange Talk performed in San Francisco at the Regency Ballroom. These guys have a great new refreshing sound. They blend a bit of the eighties pop with a touch of 90’s electro and then wrapped into their own  edgy style. Strange Talk is set to release their self-produced debut album Cast Away on April 29th via Wind-Up Records. All songs on the album were mixed by Tony Hoffer (M83, Phoenix) with the exception of “Climbing Walls,” “Eskimo Boy” and “Is It Real?” which were mixed by Eliot James (Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club). One thing is for sure, Strange Talk truly capture their studio sound and bring it to life on the stage. The crowd loved them and they captured the hearts of San Francisco. One of the highlights was when they perfomed their new single, “Young Hearts”. I am absolutely in love with this song. It is an upbeat fun song with a catchy [Read More]

Interview with Eyes Set To Kill as they Infect San Francisco with their amazing performance!

March 22, 2014

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to catch Eyes Set To Kill in San Francisco at the DNA Lounge. They have been busy on tour for the “Revolver Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock Tour” and were performing at the intimate upstairs stage at the DNA Lounge. For the tour, they have been playing larger venues and it was great to catch them in this smaller setting as they played with Cilver and San Francisco band The Light Iris. We caught up with the band just after soundcheck and are pleased to bring you that interview here:   After The Light Iris warming up the crowd with some great metal core and a  great set by Cilver, Eyes Set To Kill came out and rocked the DNA. Even though Alexia said she was losing her voice, you would have never known since they sounded every bit as awesome as always. With the recent departure of Cisco, they had an energetic rhythm guitarist play on a couple songs with them.  They also performed a couple acoustic [Read More]

Peter London delivers ‘The Feel Good’ album of 2014 with America

March 2, 2014

Our very own San Francisco favorite singer/songrwriter Peter London has recently released his  new CD America .  Peter is an avid animal lover and has used his gift of music to raise awareness and funds for a refuge animal center through Pets in Need. The end result is that Peter has not only helped a great cause but has succeeded in creating what could be the ‘feel good’ album of the year. The album takes you  on a primarily acoustic musical journey that brings you a variety of songs ranging from raw emotional tunes, sweet folk songs, modern rock to alternative rock tracks. One thing is for sure, through all the songs, each one will bring a smile to your face and warmth in your heart. Here are some of my favorites even though the whole album is fantastic from start to finish (including the bonus tracks!): America starts right off with a great passion filled song and the vocals will grab you and embrace your soul. You can literally close your eyes and feel [Read More]

Throwback Thursday Music Feature is The Spent Poets

November 21, 2013

We all have our photos of us ready for Throwback Thursday filled with big hair, 80’s outfits, MC Hammer pants, flashdance shirts and so much more…. But what about the music? We need to have a Throwback Thursday Music Feature and here it is…. our first one. For my Throwback Thursday Music, is none other than The Spent Poets. I LOVED THIS BAND! I used to hang out at Paradise Lounge and DNA Lounge in San Francisco during the late ’80s and early ’90s and that is how I first found out about them. I think I first saw them when they were playing at the DNA Lounge and I picked up their self titled debut CD. Every single song became my fave. They had such a unique sound! I used to hear the story of how they started by Adam Gates and Matt Winegar making homemade tapes that eventually got in the hands of Matt Wallace who had produced Faith No More. Then they added John Berg on keyboards, Derek Greenberg on bass and [Read More]

The Pretty Reckless release incredible new song, Heaven Knows!

November 15, 2013

I just got back from running errands and I had a very special treat! I had the opportunity to listen to the new song by The Pretty Reckless, “Heaven Knows”. They debuted the song this morning on Sirius XM Octane channel (funny since I cancelled by XM last month because they cancelled Sixx Sense channel and I still get it free for the next month). DAMN this song is AMAZING!  It has an old school rock circa Joan Jett/Runaways vibe and the catchiest sing along part on the air today. The song will become available for purchase on Itunes on Tuesday November 19th! Taylor has truly proven to be a Rock Goddess that is on top of the charts these days. The song comes off their upcoming album, Going To Hell which is scheduled for a 2014 release date.  The Pretty Reckless released a video for their first song off the album, “Going To Hell” and that is a badass song. You can actually download “Going To Hell” on Itunes now here.  Check out the video here:   [Read More]
