It was a Monday night, not the typical day for a full-house event. Not so last week, when Set It Off came to our beautiful town of Munich. The tour had been announced months ago and it didn’t take long until the show was sold out. Last time they played here has been about a year ago, when they opened for I Prevail.
It was a bigger lineup, four bands in all. All the more surprising, the venue was packed, when the first band, TSS from France, came on stage.
TSS is a modern metal band. They play a mix of emo, metalcore, alternative rock, and synth elements. They’ve never been here before, but judging the crowd’s response, you wouldn’t have guessed that. The usually more calm audience was really moving to the catchy songs. The Sunday Sadness, short TSS, use french as well as english lyrics, which makes the songs a bit more special. The band signed to Fearless Records in 2024 and I’m sure they have an excellent future ahead. If you have a chance to catch them live, you should definitely take it. They will come back to Germany in May, just for one date though, in Cologne. Around here we might have to wait a little bit longer. To make the wait worth while, make sure to check out their music on all major platforms.
Second band, Call Me Amour, had slight technical difficulties at the beginning, which led to a short break after the first few tunes they played. When they entered the stage again, singer Harry Radford immediately went down from the stage to perform their first song mostly from the inner circle of the crowd. They played an energetic set and were well received by the audience.
Point North were next on the set-list. The pop punk band started in 2017 and is (follower-wise) also still a small band. About a year ago they released a song called “Below The Belt” on which Set It Off are featured. As in their live performance, they immediately connected with the audience, esp. with already popular songs like “Safe And Sound”. You should be on the lookout for new music from Point North. Their latest record has been released in 2023.
Next on – shortly before 10 pm, Set It Off started their 15-songs-set. It’s not easy to get a crowd around here going, but SIO had no trouble doing so. With popular songs like “Why Worry”, “Killer In The Mirror”, “Lonely Dance” and “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing” the people went nuts. Crowd singalongs, mosh pits, and circle pits, we had it all that night. The band started out in 2008 as a pop-punk/emo band and over the years, they toyed with a lot of other musical elements, like f.e. hip-hop and r&b. I still remember them playing small clubs in Munich. This time, selling out a venue with app. 750 capacity proves they grew quite an audience over the years in Germany.
To sum it up, it was fun night with great bands that left the audience well-satisfied. Check out a few of our pictures and make sure to check out all of the bands.
