The Cure is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Band of the Day

April 18, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Band is The Cure. Yes, it is Friday and I’m in Love and so I had to feature The Cure today. The Cure are a band that really needs no explanation, introduction or description; they are THE CURE!!!  We all know them and many, many, many of us love them. I have been a true diehard fan of The Cure since maybe 1980 when I first heard, Boy’s Don’t Cry. I was listening to a lot of the classic 70’s style rock since I had two older brothers and a lot of R&B and Disco since I also had three older sisters. With the introduction of The Cure into my world, it became My Music, music for my generation. My older sisters and brothers definitely did not get it nor did they like it. That is also what drew me even more to listening to The Cure, my rebellious nature at 13 or 14 was kicking into high gear and The Cure soon became another soundtrack to a period in my [Read More]

Oak Street Blues span across the genres for some alternative country rock

April 14, 2014

Yes, that is right I called it alternative, country, rock and I might add even hints of electronic, blues and pop. That is exactly what you get from Southern California band, Oak Street Blues. The band was founded by Chris Hall, and with his 15 year history with several bands from a variety of genres, he brought together his influences to create their own unique sound that reminds me of a cross between Tom Petty and Wilco. Oak Street Blues is Chris Hall on Lead Guitar/Singer, Stephanie Sheer on  Keyboards/Vocals, Jenny Arias on Bass and Alejandra Arellano on Drums. When they come together and perform you are guaranteed an energetic, lively and unpredictable time but hence you will always have fun! You may even catch sight of a Pumpkin, Penguin, Spaceman or Mr. Frog. “Sometimes it’s nice to just get away from your daily life to enjoy a fun-filled concert setting that will make you laugh and jump around,” says Oak Street Blues guitarist/lead singer Chris Hall. “Rock ’n‘ roll comes to life at our shows. We will definitely entertain you.” Their latest EP, Calico, is [Read More]

Howie Day is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Artist of the Day

April 14, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Artist is Howie Day. Howie has one of the most phenomenal voices that truly speaks to you, whether he is there to cheer you up, inspire you, remind you of a special memory, or comfort you through hard times. There is something magical about his songs, they seem to be the perfect fit to whatever mood I am in. This morning I was rushing around dealing with several challenges and I was running around and I knew I needed to just take a bit of time to quiet down and slow down to reflect. Then, on the radio, came Howie Day’s Collide. First I was greeted with memories of a very special time when I first hear that song years ago. Then I realized the song gave me the perfect time to slow down and reflect and realize that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing. Then of course, I had to hear more from Howie. One of the next songs I listened to [Read More]

Robert DeLong is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Artist of the Day

April 12, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Artist is Robert DeLong. Today I want to bring you something a little bit different than what I usually share with you. That is the great new music by Robert DeLong. Robert is a singer/songwriter that is truly a one man electronic band. When he performs live, he is a one-man band who uses MIDI interfaces, a full drum set, guitar, drum pads, keyboards, laptops and game controllers, looping his music live to fuse electronic dance beats with striking melodies and lyrics with emotional heart. What you are treated to is a eclectic and highly energetic performance that brings you anything from pop, dance, house, rock and roll and so much more.  I think Bottle Rock Napa has done such a great job at bringing in a variety of music styles and genres for everyone to enjoy. Robert played at SXSW and had everyone taking notice of his creative unique sound. He has been dubbed the  ‘2013 Artist To Watch’ by the likes of MTV, Billboard and VIBE and continues [Read More]

Brighter Than a Thousand Suns premiere new song Fearless and announce new EP

April 12, 2014

Brighter Than a Thousand Suns premiere a new song, Fearless which is off their new EP Flux and set to release on May 6th via Itunes. The EP takes the listeniner even deeper into their dark, melody-driven sound with an ambient tone and personal lyrics. The Milford, CT trio includes husband and wife team Angelika and Randy Roswell, and drummer Andre Tangredi.  Check out the new song here:   The album is filled with emotionally driven lyrics and is definitely one to be excited about. “On this release, we really wanted to do something risky and allow ourselves the vulnerability that comes along with putting all of who we are out on the table,” saysguitarist Randy Roswell. “Lyrically, we shared a lot more of our personal struggles and musically we did away with a lot of self-censorship. Writing and recording this EP was a very liberating adventure that led to a lot of self-discovery.” You can watch a quick video where vocalist Angelika Roswell tells you the meaning behind Flux‘s central theme.   So make sure to visit their social media [Read More]
