Interview with Delta Rose – Featured Band of Warped Tour

May 8, 2013

Last week when we were down in Los Angeles for the Golden Gods Awards we went to the Revolver Golden Gods Aftermath Party at The Viper Room.  What was even better about this night was that, Delta Rose was going to be opening up for Heaven’s Basement.  Delta Rose is one of our featured bands from the Warped Tour 2013 and we had a chance to interview them right out on the Sunset Strip. Truly a place where these guys belong. They bring out true old school rock and roll just like many of the bands that I have been featuring.  So, when people say, “Where is our Rock and Roll?’  All you have to tell them is check out Delta Rose! Here is our interview: I love the energy and enthusiasm these guys have. It is no wonder they recently got endorsed by Gibson. They are also working on the completion of their debut music video which is being shot by none other than the great Rob Fenn. Rob’s work has become unparalled in [Read More]

It is time for you to hear A Story Beneath

May 7, 2013

I have recently been listening a lot to a great band from Santa Clarita, California. I hope you are familiar with them and if not, it is time to get acquainted with A Story Beneath. Phil Goff is on Guitar and Vocals, Toddy Libby on Bass and Keys, and Markus Flick on drums. These three guys come together with driving rhythms, melodic chords blended with some powerful rock reminiscent of Silverchair, early Tool and Incubus but they definitely have a sound of their own.  Once you start listening to them, believe me, you might not stop. They currently play one of my new “Go To” Songs, “Chamelion”. This song just gets up in me and has me revived in an instant. Make sure to check it out on their Reverbnation page or on their band profile from Facebook.  A Story Beneath has as a lot of great things ahead for them. They currently are in the Battle of the Bands competition to play the Ernie Ball stage at this year’s Warped Tour. You can vote [Read More]

Time to rock out to The Jaded

April 29, 2013

The Jaded It has been quite some time that I can say that my old stomping grounds, San Francisco has produced a great rock and roll band. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of great things have come from San Francisco.  Sourdough soup bowl from Boudin’s.  Seafood at the Wharf.  The Stinking Rose. Fun nights at Candlestick. but a great rock band…. not in a while… until now. We had the pleasure of seeing San Francisco rock band, The Jaded up here at the Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa. These guys just bring old school rock and roll and wrap in everything from funk to old school sound, that just has you wanting more and more.  The Jaded is Jimmy Steal aka Sergio on vocals/rhythm guitar, Matt Notter on bass, Downey Orrick on lead guitar/backing vocals and Elliot Starno on drums and percussion.  These four come together to send you into rock and roll bliss with their sound. We had the chance to catch up with The Jaded at their recent show at the [Read More]

These past couple of days I have found myself listening to the new album by The Sammus Theory, “Entitled Anonymous”. Killed the Fixtion brings back the truth to Heavy Metal!

April 19, 2013

Sometimes I miss the simpler times when I think of music, but then again you have to appreciate what this digital era has done for us in finding new bands or new music.  Before, long, long ago there was a time when the only way I found out about new bands was either from listening to friend’s mix tapes or we would head out to the record store. Maybe Rainbow Records, Tower or Wherehouse – the usual teenage hangout. We would scour the aisles of records and even get to listen to new bands.  Well, fast forward thirty years and the next band I am going to share with you came from a little birdy, a little blue birdy….. Twitter!! It is great to find new bands.  The band I wanted to share with you is a heavy metal/rock band, “Killed the Fixtion“. These four guys come from Hillside and Newark, New Jersey. Together they have shared their love for all types of music from punk rock to heavy metal and everything in between. The [Read More]

Road Crew is coming to Rock Your World!

April 15, 2013

Last Friday night I had my faith in rock and roll restored by a local rock band that just will have you craving more! Road Crew is from Santa Rosa, California (wine country just north of San Francisco) and Friday they were playing at one of the last venues we have here for enjoying live rock shows, The Last Day Saloon. We are still in shock over news that it will be closing in May.  After the one and only rock station, the FOXX closed just a couple years ago, I was beginning to fear that rock and roll was dying in this area. I found myself making weekly trips to San Francisco, Sacramento and even Los Angeles to make sure I was getting my fix of rock and roll bands. I was so excited to find out that this great rock band, Road Crew was from right here! These four guys are rock and roll personified. They definitely have what it takes to keep the rock scene alive and they have the sound to prove [Read More]
