Hey Violet releases angsty new track, Uncomplicated for Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2024

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than cranking up the new track Uncomplicated from Hey Violet. The band released the angsty new track today. Rena Lovelis comments about the new song, “This song was a way to call out my own distorted thinking in relationships… a sort of reckoning for what I chase and why I chase it. I remember when I was 16 years old and I was dating someone who was just a total sweetheart, and I was bored out of my mind. It really had nothing to do with that person; it was the volatility that Nia and I grew up witnessing that then transgressed into my relationships later on.”   “Uncomplicated was initially written by us, our friend Robbie Hiser, and an artist friend for their project, but we ended up loving the song and asked if we could have it for this album. The lyrics really feel like a harsh spotlight on my thinking and we thought it was an important part of the album as a whole. It [Read More]

February 13, 2024

Breakout artist Lizzy McAlpine, will be releasing her new album, Older on April 5th via RCA Records. You can pre-order/pre-save the album HERE. Lizzy comments about the album, “To me, this album represents who I’ve become over the past three years. Through the long and mostly tumultuous journey of making it, I have learned who I am as a person, who I want to be as an artist and what kind of art I want to make. This album is a culmination of that growth, showcasing the rawest and most honest version of me.” Recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Lizzy and Mason Stoops (Ryan Beatty, Del Water Gap) with additional production by Ryan Lerman of Scary Pockets, Jeremy Most (Emily King, Norah Jones) and Tony Berg (Taylor Swift, Boygenius), Older finds the 24-year-old rising star stepping into newfound confidence, discovering her voice and defining her artistry with profound simplicity. It’s a notable departure for Lizzy, who wrote the LP’s deeply personal 14 tracks during a three-year period of transition into adulthood. “The music that I’ve released up to this point in my [Read More]

Maggie has been one of our favorite vocalists since the first time we heard her perform at Outside Lands in 2017. She has risen to the top since then and there is no stopping her.  Maggie comments on her new album, I wanted to make an album that sounded like a Sunday afternoon,” explains Rogers in the letter below, which tells the story of the making of Don’t Forget Me. “Worn in denim. A drive in your favorite car. No make up, but the right amount of lipstick. Something classic. The mohair throw and bottle of Whiskey in Joan Didion’s motel room. An old corvette. Vintage, but not overly Americana. I wanted to make an album to belt at full volume alone in your car, a trusted friend who could ride shotgun and be there when you needed her.”      Today Maggie released the title track along with a video which was filmed in Super 8 in Maine and [Read More]

Normandie release new record “Dopamine Clinic” this Friday

February 7, 2024

Stockholm trio, Normandie, announced their new album ‘Dopamine’ last September. Now the wait is over, the record will finally be released this Friday, February 9th 2024 via Easy Life Records. Set in a not-too-distant and – crucially – not-at-all-unrealistic future, Normandie’s fourth album, ‘Dopamine’, finds the band asking two unsettling questions: what if we pushed our brains and bodies far beyond their limits? And what if we already are? On their follow-up to 2021’s ‘Dark & Beautiful Secrets’, Philip, Håkan (Almbladh – guitar) and Anton (Franzon – drums) tackle the overstimulation of modern life head-on, and answer some hefty questions with some even bigger songs to produce a devastating, clinical example of everything a modern rock band should be. “The whole album is about the chase for different highs and natural chemicals: oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, adrenaline…” starts Philip. “What if dopamine had to be clinically provided because we’ve burned through our receptors?” “Making this album futuristic and dystopian came very naturally when we started discussing the current state of the world. We’re all on [Read More]
