Tom Keifer releases video for The Flower Song

December 2, 2013

Growing up in the 70’s/80’s, I listened to a LOT of ROCK n ROLL. One of my favorite bands from the 80’s was the Philadelphia based blues rock band CINDERELLA. I went to many of their concerts to just to hear the raspy, distinctive gritty voice of Tom Keifer. His vocals were incredible and always drew me to their music. Earlier this year, Tom released his solo record, The Way Life Goes on Merovee Records (through WMG ILG) and went out on tour in support of the album. Tom has two singles out from this spectacular album, Solid Ground and The Flower Song. Today Tom released the video for The Flower Song which is one of my favorites off his album. You can check it out here: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u68tl82Ihmk&feature=youtu.be]   We also had the opportunity to interview Tom earlier this year and are pleased to repost that interview for you  here: * * * * * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: Hi Tom, Thank you for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music [Read More]

The Broken Ravens new single; Pressure is out NOW!

December 1, 2013

It is that time! I told you a couple weeks ago about an amazing new rock band from Scotland, The Broken Ravens who were out Tuesday Travels Pick of the week. You can read more from that post here. Well, they just released their new single, Pressure and it is incredible. Hailing from from the Stornoway from Isle of Lewis, Scotland, The Broken Ravens are soon to be one of your favorite  new bands. They remind me of a mix of Black Sabbath with Soundgarden. The Broken Ravens are Kevin Clark on Drums, Lotto Ferguson on Bass/Vocals, Calum ‘Thrash’ Macaulay on Guitar/Vocals and Bugsy Maclean on Guitar/Vocals. The band has been working hard on putting the final touches on their debut album. Kevin says, “Just now we are putting together demo’s for an album. We have quite a few finished (11 or so) and want to put out the strongest album we can. We are also releasing our first single in a couple of weeks, available through every major digital retailer, we recorded, mixed, produced and will be releasing ourselves [Read More]

Kyng gives San Francisco a dose of rock and roll

December 1, 2013

Earlier this week, the Hell Pop tour came in to  San Francisco and on the bill was All Hail the Yeti, Kyng, Motionless in White and In This Moment. One of the highlights of the night was Kyng. The last time I saw Kyng was when they played the Dean NAMM Jam which is typically filled with buyers, distributors, vendors, artists and not your typical rock audience but Kyng killed it that night. Despite the audience who many remained in their seats, we were standing up and rocking out and enjoying every minute of it! This time, they were playing at The Regency Ballroom and they came out and delivered another high energy filled set. These three guys truly create a powerful sound and you can’t help but rock out in full fist in the air, headbanging style. You have Tony Castaneda killing it on Bass and Backing Vocals, madman Pepe Clarke on Drums and fierce Eddie Veliz on Guitar and Lead Vocals. Their adrenaline becomes infectious and soon you are just in full KICK ASS ROCK MODE! decoded release new EP Topanga and it is a gift to my ears!

November 30, 2013

I just had the opportunity to listen to the new album by Derek Jordan’s band, decoded.  Decoded has been through  well over a dozen member changes since their 2012 start but through it all frontman Derek Jordan and drummer Heather Miller weathered the changes and came out on top. They recently released their new EP Topanga and it is amazing! Today decoded is Derek Jordan, Heather Miller, Ian McCulloch and Amy Clark. It starts right off with a catchy down n dirty tune, Topanga that has a punk vibe to it. The energy it gives off will have you moving in no time. Some other highlights of the EP is the mesmerizing bass line in Last Night and the jazzy rock style and some sweet ass guitar of Red Handed. Not Easy Being Alone is truly my favorite song, it almost has a 60’s feel to it, psychedelic rock era . The lyrics emotionally draw you in and the vocals of Derek are mysterious yet commanding. He has an amazingly unique voice that I could listen to all day!!!! [Read More]

City of Fallen Kings is going to be an amazing new rock band!

November 28, 2013

It is time to get excited about a great new rock project, City of Fallen Kings.  It will feature three amazing musicians/artists; Brett Hestla, Will Hunt, and Elliott Ecton. These three guys history includes Dark New Day, Evanescence, Device, Signum A.D., Virgos Merlot, Creed, Black Label Society, Skrape, and Methods of Mayhem and many more. So now you know they mean business and they definitely can deliver! They have announced a Kickstarter campaign where you can help send City of Fallen Kings into the studio. I have always been a strong believer in the Kickstarter campaigns where you can directly  help your favorite musicians and become part of the process. In today’s age of music, bands have to take charge on their own t make things happen.  So if you want to keep listening to great new bands and new rock, then you have to be part and support the music scene. What better way than making a pledge and you can get some cook rewards in return. There is a variety of rewards that can fit anyone’s budget [Read More]
