Our featured Bottle Rock Napa Band of the Day is an all time fave of mine: Gin Blossoms

March 19, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Band is Gin Blossoms. Gin Blossoms has been one of my all time favorite bands and always reminds me of summertime.  I probably think of summer since I remember having my favorite Gin Blossoms Dusted cassette playing on my long summer drives back and forth to LA. I must have worn out that Cassette that summer of 1990. I remember playing them long before my friends hopped on board in 1991/1992 as they re-recorded several of the songs after signing to A&M Records and instantly grew in popularity. Gin Blossoms’ songs are always catchy, fun and carefree. The perfect backdrop for any band. Their music has been described as alternative, melodic rock, pop, folk, and so much more. If I was to describe it I would say Gin Blossoms is like a fun in the sun summer day. If you could take the memories of good times spent with friends, young love, simply having a good time and feeling carefree; that is what Gin Blossoms sounds like. Of course, because [Read More]

Peter London delivers ‘The Feel Good’ album of 2014 with America

March 2, 2014

Our very own San Francisco favorite singer/songrwriter Peter London has recently released his  new CD America .  Peter is an avid animal lover and has used his gift of music to raise awareness and funds for a refuge animal center through Pets in Need. The end result is that Peter has not only helped a great cause but has succeeded in creating what could be the ‘feel good’ album of the year. The album takes you  on a primarily acoustic musical journey that brings you a variety of songs ranging from raw emotional tunes, sweet folk songs, modern rock to alternative rock tracks. One thing is for sure, through all the songs, each one will bring a smile to your face and warmth in your heart. Here are some of my favorites even though the whole album is fantastic from start to finish (including the bonus tracks!): America starts right off with a great passion filled song and the vocals will grab you and embrace your soul. You can literally close your eyes and feel [Read More]

Enduring Days You will Overcome by Electric Litany dances with your soul and embraces your spirit!

February 28, 2014

It might have been 4 years since the debut release of the successful album, “How To Be a Child and Win the War”, Electric Litany proves with their new album, they are ready to shine once again. Their new album, “Enduring Days You will Overcome” is an amazing collection of soul touching songs that embrace your spirit and breathes new life into your consciousness. Greco-London band Electric Litany produced the album with Alan Parsons and recorded the album in several studios in London, Welsh and the island of Corfu and mastering was completed at Abbey Road Studios and is released through Inner Ear Records. The album is quite spectacular as you engage yourself into the brooding vocals amidst melancholic and dreamy atmospheres presenting itself as well orchestrated and captivating. Check out their video for the song, Feather of Ecstasy which is off the new album:   I encourage you to check out the new album and get drawn in as your spirit is embraced and enlightened by Electric Litany. ~ Marisol Information & Links: Website: [Read More]

It was last year when I first introduced you to the awesome band, Biters. The video is once again directed, shot and edited by Rahim. You are going to love this one. Check it out here:   When I first heard BITERS, I was literally taken aback with their sound. I couldn’t  help but crank it up louder and lounder and push replay and repeat just so I would be sure that I am hearing correctly. I fell INSTANTLY IN LOVE! It was pure ear porn! As I wrote in my previous post: “My son asked me earlier to check out a band for him. I put it off since I was working and then just as I was about to go to bed, I saw the note scribbled by him…. ‘Check out BITERS – love Hallucination Generation”  So I did decided to look them up. Help The Brave Ones create their album and join the fight against Cancer!

February 6, 2014

As many of you know, I am a big supporter of musicians utilizing the crowd source funding as options to create their music and become their own label.  With sites like Kickstarter, PledgeMusic and IndieGogo they allow the artists to create their album on their own and you can be a part of it with your contribution. Also along with your contribution, you can get some cool perks. Tonight I want to share with you the IndieGogo campaign of The Brave Ones. The Brave Ones are from Los Angeles and deliver high energy music that is fused with aggressive guitars, compelling vocals and well written melodies.  They remind me of a blend of alternative rock meshed with fun Americana sprinkled with some punk attitude  From the first time I heard their song, Go Get Em Kid and Daybreak Sun, I was hooked!  The Brave Ones is Gene Louis on Vocals/Guitar, Amy Davis on Vocals, Ben Palmer on Guitar, Felipe Rodrigo on Guitar, Taylor Sullivan on Bass and Jay Pinfold on Drums. Now let’s talk about what they are working on. The [Read More]

Tomorrows brings to life alternative rock

January 18, 2014

There is a great Alternative Rock band that you have to check out. They are called Tomorrows and is the work of brothers Jack and Jim Ivans. Their live musicians are Cullen MacDonald on Guitars and James Tan on Bass.  I love my alternative rock and San Francisco in the ’90s seemed to give me an abundance of alternative bands to listen too, that just isn’t so true these days. But now with the find of Tomorrows I can revive my love for alternative rock! Tomorrows is from New York City and this year, you will definitely be hearing a lot more from them. They bring to life pop/rock with an alternative edge. Their songs have emotionally driven lyrics and melodies that just grab a hold of you. They are releasing a full length album, The Code Duello which will be out later this year. I recently have fallen in love with their first single of their upcoming album, “Heartbreakers“. Check it out here:   “Heartbreakers” has some fierce guitars, catchy chorus/hook and lyrically tells a great story.Their [Read More]
