Sum 41 share emotional new track “Catching Fire”

June 1, 2021

Sum 41 has dropped a reimagined version of their previously released track “Catching Fire” featuring nothing, nowhere. Deryck Whibley wrote this ballad for his wife, Ari Whibley, after her suicide attempt and they are talking about it for the first time ever in hopes to raise awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month. Sum 41 fans from all over the world collectively submitted their stories of loss seen in the beautifully shot black and white video for “Catching Fir”. The vision behind the powerful video-turned-memorial is to shine light on suicide prevention and help tackle the stigma behind mental health head on. The video was directed by John Asher, who previously directed Sum 41’s music video for “Never There”. On the new single, Whibley shares: “Writing this song was cathartic for me in dealing with my emotions for the first time about almost losing my wife to suicide. When I first played it for her, it was the beginning of us having an open conversation about what she went through. In sharing her story, we are hoping [Read More]

Clowns release brand-new song “Does It Matter ?”

May 15, 2021

2020 was going to be a colossal year for Clowns. The Melbourne, Australian five-piece was locked into worldwide touring to support their 2019 full-length, and Fat Wreck debut, Nature/Nurture. The album included 11 blistering songs that veered from frantic punk to slower, more nuanced, and psychedelic-tinged rock. However, before the band could really roll out their epic touring plans, that nettlesome global pandemic hit, and the world was shut down. Luckily, Clowns are not one to rest on their laurels and harnessed their solitude to write music. The pause on being an active band allowed the group to record a batch of new songs, with two standing out as their favorites. Today you’ll get your first dose of quarantine-blues curing melody, in the form of the single “Does It Matter?” Singer Stevie Williams comments on “Does It Matter?”: “We wanted to write the best Clowns song that has ever existed – it’s punky, it’s ‘garagy’, there are a few screams and there are a few big singalongs. It has a crashing guitar solo and it’s [Read More]

Drug Church announce new EP “Tawny” and share title track

April 22, 2021

Everyone’s favorite punk rock agitators, Drug Church, have returned. Today the Albany/Los Angeles-based band announced “Tawny”: a new four-song EP due out June 25th from Pure Noise Records that acts as a bridge from their 2018 LP, “Cheer”, to Drug Church’s impending fourth full-length. “Cheer” was acclaimed by both fans and critics alike (including praise from the likes of Stereogum, Noisey, Revolver, BrooklynVegan, and more), and with “Tawny” the band push their blend of hardcore aggression and massive, ’90s-indebted hooks even further. Drug Church have also shared the EP’s title track, a towering wall of heavy guitars and pummeling drums with an anthemic climax that hints at the band’s ever-expanding songwriting toolbox. Never one to flinch at the darker corners of the human condition, vocalist Patrick Kindlon’s lyrics remain as vitriolic as ever. “People are so happy to not be in the guillotine, they’ll cheer at anyone else’s execution”, he says. “I’ve about had it with that”. “Tawny” is comprised of Drug Church’s crushing 2020 single “Bliss Out”, a cover of Arcwelder’s “Remember To Forget”, [Read More]
