Get ready, it is going to get hot in here…. For Day 6 of 12 Days of Guitarists, we bring to you Brody DeRozie of American Monster from Las Vegas. We had the opportunity to watch Brody play with Hell or Highwater during the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento. Brody is a madman on his guitar! He is belting out riffs, smoking solos and he just makes it look so easy. You can definitely tell that he loves playing and is a crowd pleaser. We had the opportunity to talk with Brody about American Monster and he told us, “American Monster is slotted to have a debut show back onstage in the early winter months of 2014 with the original lineup in Las Vegas. Our countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014 continues on. Here we are at #7 and it goes to Lynam. I have been in love with Lynam for years now. In 2008, their CD “Tragic City Symphony” was one of my Go To CDs with great singles like Save My Soul, Lindsay Says, and Porn Star which all three made it to the Top 10 on the Active Rock independent chart. Some of my other faves are White Trash Superstar and Just Say Anything. Their live album Thank You Goodnight was released in 2010 and was also a must have. Oh, and you can’t forget Slave to the Machine! Lynam is Jacob Bunton on lead vocals and guitar, DavidLynam on drums, Mark Dzier on bass, and Lonny Paul on guitar. Day 10 of our 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to the heavy melodic rock band, Pushing the Sun. Pushing the Sun is from the San Francisco Bay Area and they literally have exploded on to the music scene and have created quite a buzz. Their motto, “We will light up your life, we have fire in our hands!” definitely rings true. Pushing the Sun was started by guitarist Billy Connally in 2012 after his successful instrumental album release, The Silent Canvas which was released through Steve Vai’s Digital Nations label. The band has been doing gigs all over Northern California to include the opening slot for the Rockstar Uproar Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheater. Day 9 of our 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to Road Crew from Santa Rosa. Road Crew maybe a local band but they have their eyes on the big Rock’n Roll prize. They have a big sound that from the first time I heard them, I had my faith restored in music and now know that Rock n Roll will NEVER DIE! You can read more about that first time here. Red9 release new video for “Ignoramus”

The video is finally here! Red9 released their video for “Ignoramus” from their new album “Under Dark Skies”. Their album is filled with some KICK ASS Rock n Roll and you can read my full review of it here. It is a great video and I just love the bad ass bass in that song! It dark edgy sound with an exuberant build up that just delivers another well composed song from Red9.The video is incredibly entertaining and was directed by Raúl Gonzales (RSM Creative). Red9 does seem to put out some of the best videos in the industry lately! Let’s get down and dirty for Day 8 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. How about some French glam rockers, BlackRain for Day 8?? These bad ass rockers first started in 2006 and quickly rose to fame in Europe and have become one of the most noted French rock bands. You have Swan on Vocals and Guitars, Max on lead guitar and Mat on Bass and Frank on Drums. The first time I heard BlackRain is when my son Rockin Ryan played Overloaded for me and I was instantly transformed back to my nights spent on the Sunset Strip in the ’80s. At first I thought I was listening to an old Motley Crue track!! Swan on vocals just blows you away with his powerful voice and he has perfected the high vocal ranges of the ’80s. Today on our countdown of 14 Bands that will rule in 2014 goes to Art of Dying. Rockers, Art of Dying from Canada have a constant spot on my daily music playlist. Their music not only kicks ass in rock n roll but also have such emotionally charged lyrics that many can connect and relate to. I don’t think a day goes by where I didn’t listen to an Art of Dying song. As I mentioned before, I personally, have experienced the power of healing through music by listening to my favorite Art of Dying songs at one of the hardest times in my life. It truly is music to feed your soul wrapped in blazing rock and roll. It has been great to watch Art of Dying become one of everyone’s favorite bands and their fans all have great stories to share.
