Sunsleeper share newest single “Currents”

May 4, 2022

Indie rock outfit Sunsleeper have shared their new single and music video “Currents” via Rude Records. Inspired by the warmth and overwhelming character of 1990s alt-rock, the track embodies the feeling of being trapped and the overwhelming feeling of wanting to break free. “The song is about feeling stuck in a cycle that we have no ability to break. Grappling with the fact that life is like currents, forever undulating from crests to troughs. Nothing is linear, especially not existence”  vocalist Jeffery Mudgett on the new track “Currents” follows the release of previous single “In The Clouds”. Dripping with a 90’s inspired alt-rock feel, the track envelopes moments with the mist of nostalgia and the power of dreaming. The track gained notice from Ones To Watch, Hot Topic, Atwood Magazine, and other notable outlets. Sunsleeper was halfway through the touring cycle for their debut album when the pandemic halted live music. For the Salt Lake City indie rockers, that pause allowed them to reframe what their journey as musicians and people inspires them to create [Read More]

Joyce Manor share new song “Don’t Try”

May 4, 2022

LA pop-punk trio Joyce Manor released another new track from their upcoming new record “40 oz. To Fresno”, which will be released June 10th via Epitaph. Check out “Don’t Try”: Originally, Joyce Manor wanted to take a little break from music, but thanks to the wish of singer/guitarist Barry Johnson to keep on writing during quarantine, their newest project “40 oz. To Fresno” was brought into life. Produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Tokyo Police Club, Joyce Manor’s “Cody”), mixed by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Phoenix) with help from Tony Thaxton (Motion City Soundtrack) on drums, a feeling of liberation underlies this project. It’s strangely fitting that the title comes from an automatically corrected text message via Sublime. Those kind of lucky coincidences are on “40 oz. To Fresno” and they are worth the following acoustic hangover. Singer Barry Johnson summarizes: “This album makes me think of our early tours, drinking a 40 in the van on a night drive blasting Guided by Voices and smoking cigarettes the whole way to Fresno.” Since their foundation in [Read More]

Deaf Havana release new song “On The Wire”

April 30, 2022

Deaf Havana released their brand new single ” On The Wire ” yesterday. The song, which deals with themes of self-confidence and determination, is a very special piece of music for the band. Matty Veck-Gilodi explains: “‘ On The Wire’ was the first song James and I wrote together after being apart for over a year. It came together in a matter of hours and that’s when we first felt the need to continue Deaf Havana. When we wrote the chorus, we immediately felt like we had written our greatest song to date […] .” The title is about finding the strength in the struggle to make positive changes in life, even if they are not exactly the easy ones. It’s about getting older, it’s about picking yourself up after wasted nights of making the same mistakes over and over again and finding hope that you can change for the better.” “On The Wire” is the second Radio single release following the rocking ‘Going Clear’ (TOP 100 Airplay in DE) on the way to the [Read More]

Void Of Vision share new video “Altar” feat. Hannah Greenwood

April 30, 2022

Pull a chair up to the pummeling unveiling of Melbourne metalcore quartet Void Of Vision’s new EP “CHRONICLES II: HEAVEN”, officially out yesterday on UNFD. A lush juxtaposition between bustling rage and silken serenity, “CHRONICLES II: HEAVEN” marks the second chapter in Void Of Vision’s “CHRONICLES” endeavors, leaping beyond the established foundations of 2021’s “CHRONICLES I: LUST” into gossamer realms of sonic transformation, personal evolution, and slick accessibility. Gifting a delicious deluge of heart-stopping metal, ethereal elements, and, for the first time ever, clean singing performances from vocalist Jack Bergin, “CHRONICLES II: HEAVEN” packs an unforgettable cinematic punch, as does its focus track “Altar”, boasting sublime guest vocals from Hannah Greenwood of Creeper fame, and fittingly serving up vacillating beauty and brutality via a brand new music video released alongside the EP. Marking the aural apex of “CHRONICLES II: HEAVEN”, “Altar” steadily worships unbridled lyrical exploration equally with loss, hope and gripping chaos as Bergin’s searing vocals elegantly intertwine with guest vocalist Greenwood; and it’s this enthralling contrast that is equally on full display via [Read More]

Moodring announce debut album “Stargazer”

April 27, 2022

Rising Floridian alt-metal quartet Moodring have spent 2022 thus far taking listeners on a journey of contrast and juxtaposition. Where “Disintegrate” paired spacious beauty with existentialist lyricism, “Constrict” set a quest for truth within toxic spirals to a soundtrack of pummelling immediacy. But these tracks were but tastes of what was to come, lying in wait, coiled and ready to strike. Today, Moodring are peeling the veil further with the announcement of debut album, “Stargazer“, to be released June 10th, 2022, via UNFD. An album soaked and splattered with shades of crimson, black, and blue, “Stargazer” explores themes of pain and loss, sex and addiction, love and death against a gloriously patchwork musical backdrop. “We were excited to explore deeper themes and different aspects of our band throughout the full length”, shares vocalist Hunter Young, who co-produced “Stargazer” at his home studio, The Swamp Sound, alongside collaborator Austin Coupe; “The album dives into our pool of influences unabashedly but resurfaces as its own entity. Each song was written with personal meaning and multiple themes, whilst [Read More]

Ocean Grove share new single “Bored” feat. Dune Rats

April 26, 2022

The perfect collab does exist, and in 2022 it prevails in the form of the brand new single and music video ‘BORED’, boasting Oddworld icons Ocean Grove teaming up with fellow beloved party-starters Dune Rats. Offering one last mouthwatering peek at Ocean Grove’s impending new album “Up In The Air Forever”, which was released April 22nd on UNFD, ‘BORED’ is a boisterous and bustling ode to the frustrations and stifled energy from the past few years, delivered with delectable Ocean Grove creamy bounce and some rambunctious flair with Dune Rats along for the ride. Also accompanying the track’s release today is an entirely apt music video, with the “Ocean Rats”, aka OG and the Dunies, bringing the pent-up party vibes to the bedroom of a kid ready to bust off the shackles of full-blown boredom. Perfectly complementing the nostalgic flavours of the track, the ‘BORED’ music video also features plenty of throwbacks like Discmans and old-school video games alongside the larrikin tinges. Also armed with some modern sonic grunge and a criminally catchy chorus you’ll [Read More]

The Wonder Years return with new single “Oldest Daughter”

April 26, 2022

Philadelphia’s The Wonder Years return full force today with the release of their new song, “Oldest Daughter”. They kicked 2022 off with a near-entirely sold-out headlining tour, one that found them celebrating two of their most beloved records: 2010’s “The Upsides” and 2011’s “Suburbia I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothin“. On another discography standout album, 2013’s “The Greatest Generation“, vocalist Dan Campbell sings of alcoholism and the “bitter and vitriolic” trappings of the east coast winter in a song called “Madelyn”. Nearly a decade later, “Oldest Daughter” picks up where that song left off. The energy here is much different but the ending remains unfortunately the same. “It’s about coming to the understanding that you can’t save everyone”, Dan explains. “There are going to be people you love who will destroy themselves no matter how badly you want them to stop”. Every release from The Wonder Years finds the band pushing the limits of their sound, but this song truly feels like they’re pulling from all the best parts. Produced by Steve Evetts [Read More]
